Morning Song – Lord, Don’t Move My Mountain

Gospel music is explicitly directed towards an Experience beyond our ability to capture fully in words (or music, for that matter), which is one reason gospel songs get repeated and reworked over and over. Each new recording/performance offers the opportunity for a new insight into that Experience.

So it is with The Truthettes’ 1983 double-time version of “Lord, Don’t Move My Mountain”. It’s full of all the energy and confidence and enthusiasm and righteous zeal that is the particular province of the young.

Which, given how young many of the key figures in scripture were, makes it all the more worth listening to.
