Housekeeping Update

June 10, 2024

Expect blogging to be sparse to non-existent for the next several days. One of the most common side-effects of successful transplant surgery is increased risk of opportunistic infections. (That’s on account of the drugs that suppress the immune system so the body doesn’t reject the new organ.)

It turns out I’ve got one of those opportunistic infections and the sooner doctors can start administering IV anti-viral drugs to knock it down, the better…and to do that, I’ve got to be in the hospital for “observation” (a word when used as here that means, in my admittedly limited experience, something like “lots of blood draws“).

If all goes well, regular blogging should resume by the end of the week. If not, then sometime the following week. (I think.)
