Morning Song – John Barleycorn

One of the oldest odes to the revivifying powers of beer in the English language, “John Barleycorn” dates back at least to the 16th century. Flutist Chris Wood introduced it to the rest of Traffic and it became the unlikely title track to their 1970 album.

“And little Sir John and the nut-brown bowl,
Proved the strongest man at last…”
