Morning Song – The Power

“The Power” might be the queerest piano duet in the history of rock & roll. (And that it’s two of the most popular and influential pianist/vocalists in the history of rock & roll is enough all by itself to force a revision of the standard history of rock as “straight white guys with guitars”.)

What’s even more remarkable for those who know something about the decades of pain and suffering Little Richard and Elton John each endured because of their sexuality, is the freedom, ease, and yes, pride, they express throughout the song.

Touching truth, touching skin,

And we walk with the power every day.”
