Morning Song – Jeans On

Usually popular songs get turned into advertising jingles, not the other way around. But Lord (yes, he’s the son of the 3rd Marquess of Zetland) David Dundas’ 1977 quirky little hit song, “Jeans On”, is the exception that proves the rule.

It started life as part of an award-winning advertising campaign for Brutus Jeans and then—with some minor lyrical surgery and on the strength of its infectious electric piano riff—started climbing the pop charts.

When I wake up in the morning light,
I pull on my jeans and I feel all right;
I pull my blue jeans on, I pull my old blue jeans on (ch-ch)….
