Morning Song – Baby Scratch My Back

June 26, 2017

One of many African-American blues artists in the mid-1960s who watched in amazement (among other emotions) as young British rockers like The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, Pink Floyd, and Them started making money covering and adapting blues songs, Slim Harpo decided to give this rock and roll thing a try.

“Baby Scratch My Back” not only made it to the top of the R & B charts, it crossed over and broke into the Top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in 1966.  It’s less than 3 minutes long, but I could listen to Slim’s harmonica and that tremolo-drenched guitar all day.
