Morning Song – Come On In The Room

March 12, 2017

You’re going to have to settle down and take some time with this one, because it’s one of the prerogatives of age to take a little time when imparting hard-earned wisdom.

And that’s what Mother Agnes Coney, and the Rev. Milton Biggham, and the Georgia Mass Choir are doing on “Come On In The Room”.

To dismiss as an anachronism the story about a grandmother in the rural mid-20th century South and her healing power of prayer when the doctor isn’t available would be a mistake on two fronts: 1) those days aren’t as past as you think, and 2) even if they are there’s going to come a time in life when you need a sanctuary from the horrors of the world in order to summon every power available and equip yourself for the circumstance you face.

You’re gonna need a room.

Come on in the room, Come on in the room;
Jesus is my doctor and he writes out all my scrips;                                             He gives me all my medicine, in the room.
