Morning Song – Sugar Walls
In 1985, with Prince at the peak of his hit-making powers, he penned “Sugar Walls” for Sheena Easton who used her remarkably supple voice to take it to #1 on the Billboard Dance charts.
A woman’s ode to the ecstatic powers of her vagina, “Sugar Walls” only made it to #2 on the “Filthy Fifteen” list put out that year by Tipper Gore’s Parents Music Resource Center. (So, a sexually confident woman: not as bad as masturbation but worse than S&M, rape fantasies and devil worship. Yes, children; that was the worldview of the wives of powerful American politicians in the Reagan era. Don’t try this at home.)
Come and feel my presence, it’s reigning tonight;
Heaven on earth inside my sugar walls.
