Morning Song – Hot N Tot

January 30, 2017

Earl Van Dyke was the Booker T. Jones of the Funk Brothers (or Booker T. was the Van Dyke of the MGs; I’m not having that argument on a Monday morning).

At the peak of Motown’s Golden Age (1965, not arguing that point either) “Hot N Tot” is what Van Dyke and the Funk Brothers were tossing off as a B side.

Slinky, funky, tight, bluesy, playful, a bit greasy, a bit showy, and altogether captivating.

In this little corner of the world, our newly-inaugurated president is uniting the country faster than even he might have expected.  What’s happening where you are?
