Morning Song – The Jungle Book/Sarabande

July 18, 2016

No matter how thoughtfully and respectfully it’s done, playing songs from a Disney movie based on the writings of “jingo imperialistRudyard Kipling—mixed with music by a composer (even one as great as George F. Handel) who spent much of his career in the employ of the British royal family—while sailing your piano down a Yucatán river and playing your cello atop the ruins of Chichén Itzá is some kind of definition of white privilege.

A really beautiful, clever, fun, awe-inspiring, gentle-as-could-possibly-be definition.
