Morning Song – A Kiss At The End Of The Rainbow

July 4, 2016

(Theme of the week: music from movies about fake bands.)

Q: What does the Music Department here at MassCommons World Headquarters love even more than a good song suggestion?

A: A whole theme full of good song suggestions.

We got one recently: “… it occurred to me that some good music has come from movies about fake bands…“. Even better, that message came with a list of movies and suggested songs. (Take note, folks: this is how to get your song(s) played.)

We’ll start this week with “A Kiss At The End Of The Rainbow” from the 2003 folk music mockumentary¬† A Mighty Wind, performed by “Mitch & Mickey” (Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara). In a case of parody exceeding the original art, “A Kiss At The End Of The Rainbow” was nominated for an Oscar in the “Best Original Song” category.
