Morning Song – Boston Bust Out

March 28, 2016

Every six months or so throughout the mid-1960s, organist Jimmy McGriff would go into a recording studio with a handful of musicians (this time with his trio) and emerge a day or two later with an album of soulful jazz.

There’s no evidence that “Boston Bust Out”, off his 1966 A Bag Full Of Soul album for Solid State, is about the creation of METCO—now the nation’s longest continuously running voluntary school desegregation program—but then again, there’s no evidence it’s not.

It’s Monday morning and Donald Trump is taking a close look at whether this summer’s Republican national convention should be an “open-carry” event. What’s happening where you are?
