Morning Song – The House Is Rockin’

March 10, 2016

A longtime follower of this little blog writes, “…SXSW kicks off this weekend in Austin, Texas.  Perhaps, then, it’s a good time for a selection from one of Austin’s favorite sons…the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Indeed, perhaps it is.

How about the lead cut from In Step?  This was Stevie Ray’s last album with longtime backing band, Double Trouble, and his first release after getting out of rehab.

Some fans might have feared a clean and sober Stevie Ray wouldn’t be able to “rock out” like the frenzied guitar genius they’d come to know and love. “The House Is Rockin'” was his answer.

Walkin’ up the street you can hear the sound,
Of some bad honky tonkers really layin’ it down;
They’ve seen it all for years and got nothin’ to lose,
So get down on the floor shimmy ’til you shake sumpin’ loose….
