Morning Song – Kissin’ And A Huggin’

February 23, 2016

There’s an alternate (less racist, less sexist, less homophobic, more musically adventurous) pop music universe where Joan Armatrading is one of the most successful and influential and acclaimed singer/songwriter/musicians of the past several decades and the Eagles* are an afterthought.

Listening to the driving acoustic funk-jazz balladry (yes, in that alternate universe it’s a thing. Why? Because of Joan Armatrading.) of “Kissin’ And A Huggin'” makes me want to visit that universe, if only for a short while.

It was a fine thing;
We were young,
So much love to give.

*Not knocking the Eagles; that’s a different conversation.
