Morning Song – Long As I Got King Jesus

February 14, 2016

We talked last week about the power of repetition in prayer. In “Long As I Got King Jesus”, Vickie Winans mashes up that ancient tradition with several others to create an old-time gospel shoutfest.

There’s the calling upon God by many different names (“a burden bearer, a heavy load sharer, a bridge over water…lily of the valley, a praying morning star, a rose of Sharon“).  There’s the plantation sharecroppers, and the little country church.  There’s the contemporary gospel choir and the hip-hop youth group of steppers.  There’s the call to conversion.

You could almost substitute watching this video for going to church.
