Morning Song – Let’s Dance

January 15, 2016

” I thought to myself, ‘Man, if I don’t make a record that makes people want to dance, and we call the song Let’s Dance, I’m going to have to trade in my black union card.‘”

Legendary producer Nile Rodgers has nothing to fear.  Not only does David Bowie’s biggest transatlantic hit make you want to dance, the video is a flat out anti-racist slap in the face to the dominant “disco sucks” culture of the early 1980s.

Put on your red shoes and dance the blues….
Under the moonlight, this serious moonlight.

Emma Goldman may or may not have said, “If I can’t dance I don’t want to be part of your revolution“.  David Bowie understood that you can’t make a revolution if you won’t dance.
