Morning Song – Smooth Sailin’

November 5, 2015

No, that’s not Sam Cooke.  It’s a young fella named Leon Bridges, but if we’re going to have in Black Lives Matter a revival of the militant, in-the-streets, led-by-young-people civil rights movement of the 1960s, then it makes sense that we’ll have something of a revival of the unapologetically black, sweet soul music that their grandparents marched (and danced and flirted) to.

Said I like the way (like the way)
You sail your ship down;
Let me be your cargo.

I won’t wear you down;
No honey I won’t
Wear you down.
