Morning Song – Have A Little Faith In Me

November 21, 2013

John Hiatt is a songwriter who gets covered a lot.  And there have been a lot of covers of his gospel-tinged 1987 song, “Have A Little Faith In Me”.

But despite the many fine versions recorded over the past quarter-century (including those by artists as varied as Joe Cocker, Chaka KhanMandy Moore and The Toccatatones), none meets this blog’s First Rule of Cover Songs* sufficiently to displace Hiatt’s simple, heartfelt solo performance.

Time is our friend…. Your love gives me strength enough, so have a little faith in me.

*You’ve got to bring something new to it.

  1. I seen him perform this song a few times and once he told the audience that the song was to his wife when he was sobering up and going through treatment.
