Kill Your Lawn! (Or At Least Consider Some Alternatives)
It’s one thing to maintain a nice lawn on a large, flat plot in a suburban development. It’s another in a hilly urban neighborhood.
Some folks put a lot of effort into it and get good results:
And for some the results aren’t quite so good:
Some people decide to replace some of the grass with a few plants, especially on the steeper grades:
While others go further and place a few plants surrounded by wood chips on any part that’s not level:

Or a lot of plants:
Some people go with flowers:
While others plant pretty much anything and everything that does not require using a lawn mower:
All of these yards are on the same street, within a couple of blocks of each other. Some of them are next to each other. It’s one of the small pleasures of city life: the many and ingenious ways people find to make their little corner of the world beautiful.
