UCLA: The Carleton Ravens of the 1960s – 70s
The Canadian version of March Madness* ended last Sunday in familiar fashion. The Carleton Ravens men’s basketball team won their 8th title in the last 10 years, beating the Alberta Golden Bears 86-67.
The headline isn’t a joke. Carleton was undefeated (34-0) this season against CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) competition, winning games by an average of 35 points. And before the Americans start making jokes about Canadian basketball, consider that the Ravens beat NCAA West Regional #9 seed, St. Louis University not once, but twice, in preseason play last fall.
Congratulations to Coach Dave Smart and the entire Ravens team. (You know who you are.)
